I’m not good at putting things off. I don’t know where my lack of procrastination came from, but if something needs to get done I just go ahead and do it. It’s probably a product of my lack of patience. I am good at playing the long game but very impatient with the short one.
I wasn’t always this way. What has shaped it is the cliche ‘Life Happens’.
Real life example; my wife and I have talked about taking our daughters to dinner - some place nice. We drove by a spot we like last week and I booked the reservation on the phone right then. Why? Because by the time I remember to go and do it later, it will be two weeks from now and the date we want to go will be booked. Or we’ll forget altogether.
Because life happens.
I know dinner with the family may not be life altering - but if I am good with jumping on the little things they add up. And it takes items off the ‘to-do’ list before I even put them on there.
Playing ahead instead of always being behind
Try it with little things. What has popped up today that needs your attention? Knock it out and start making it a habit.
