Nick Saban said something on Saturday that has been bouncing around in my head...
You either feel the pressure or apply the pressure.
It’s a mindset thing he taught his teams.
You start thinking about the moment. How big the thing you’re working on is. How you might not be up to it. Hear chatter from outsiders and start to feel pressure. Doubt leads to you playing not to lose. Bad situation.
Or you apply the pressure. You are ready for your moment. You work to quiet your doubts because you believe in yourself. You are executing as best as you know how. Not allowing the pressure of the moment or situation to cave in on you. Applying outward pressure on whatever/whoever the opponent is.
I always told my kids when I coached them in sports. Prepare and execute. Sometimes your best isn’t as good as someone else’s. But let that happen as the game unfolds, not in your head beforehand.
Apply pressure this week.
