I’ve got a few life mantras.
You never have to apologize for overdressing (thanks Dad)
Always order the lobster (thanks to my buddy Rick)
If you’re going to blow the budget, skip the honey bun.
There are times when I am in the mood for something sweet. But there are zero times when I’d choose the easy to buy jumbo honey bun.
It’s not the calorie number that scares me away (720 btw), it’s wasting those calories on something so mid.
Convenience is a trade-off we all make. I need something, and I want it now. Click the one that gets here first.
There is a time for speed. Not overthinking. Launching at 80%.
But when resources are limited (a 2000 calorie diet say), I want to make spending over a third of my daily intake worth it.
When I developed DryFins, I splurged on several things that made for a more complex build. Custom drawstrings. Embroidered logo. Longer wearing fabric.
It used more of our initial resources. And it added an extra few back and forth sampling tests from overseas.
But the product was far better because of it - over 60% of our customers came back and bought multiple pairs.
Speed works when you can change it later. When you can’t, that’s when you break out the checkbook.
You’ve got one dessert in the budget. Don’t waste it on something aging in the vending machine.
