There comes a point in your life when you realize you’ve been running around with a rock in your shoe, It could be at a particular job or even an entire career you’ve spent years working at. You’ve gotten used to the pain of the rock. The discomfort. The annoyance. You probably built up a callous to it.
But you keep running with the rock in your shoe because it’s what you are used to. It’s dis-comfortable. But, hey, at least you know what it is and you can deal with it. It’s ‘safe’. “It’s better than digging ditches”.
Maybe it’s time to think about taking off the shoe and getting rid of the rock. While you may fall behind for a short time, once you are free from it you will run and catch up in no time. And there are way more options for you than digging ditches.
